Never since the 1970s has the topic of energy been as present and dominant in public discourse as it was last year. The many challenges in the energy sector also make it clear: men alone will not be able to solve these problems – all the talents that society has at its disposal are needed. In 2015, however, the proportion of women in the Austrian energy sector was still 19%, far below the international average of 25%. What has happened here since then?
As part of the Equality Initiative, the event “Women empower the energy transition! – For more equal opportunities in the energy sector” will take place in Austria on the 2nd of March 2023. The aim of the event is to focus on structural challenges and obstacles for women in the economy and to establish the connection to the energy sector. During the event, the results of a current study by the Austrian Institute of Technology will be presented, which deals with gender equality in the energy sector in Austria. Furthermore, measures for better career opportunities for women will be discussed in a panel discussion and participants will be offered networking opportunities.
The event is aimed at both women and men from the energy sector throughout Austria and will take place in person.
