Women in Solidarity for Energy (WISE) is a two-year project that combines awareness raising, building knowledge and solidarity actions to eradicate energy injustices that negatively impact single women (young women, single mothers, elderly women and female migrants) in Europe.
With the overarching aim of empowering single women to participate in co-developing policies and practices that address their needs, WISE is multi-faceted. The Project’s activities will: raise awareness of energy justice; boost energy knowledge and know-how; and develop, translate and disseminate content relevant to energy-related fundamental rights and effective policy in the context of a just, clean energy transition.
Knowing you to be active in these areas, WISE is pleased to invite you to its upcoming Pan-European Conference, taking place on Friday, 6 December in Sofia, Bulgaria. A preliminary programme (attached), highlights how the event has been organised to achieve the following aims:
- Explain the WISE project and stimulate a pan-European movement
- Investigate the current situation and planned actions in WISE countries
- Offer workshop sessions focusing on actions needed
- Examine access to sufficient, affordable energy from the perspective of basic human rights
Participation is free, including all meals on the day of the event. Accommodations can be booked at the event venue, Boyana Complex, for €35.00 night. WISE has a limited budget for grants to support those requiring financial support for travel costs. Participants can indicate such need when registering. Or, conversely, demonstrate their willingness to practice solidarity by making a contribution to the WISE Travel Grant.

With an anticipated attendance of 150 stakeholders from a wide range of EU countries, the Conference will stimulate rich exchange about current injustices and possible solutions. Participants will include: CSOs/NGOs providing services for women; municipalities; social services and social housing authorities; support officers for refugees and immigrants; energy experts. Women from the target group will be invited to participate as ‘lived experience experts’.
