REEEA-A will hold a national conference with the topic “Optimizing Opportunities in the Energy Transition Value Chain” at Sheraton Hotel and Towers, Abuja, Nigeria on March 1-2, 2022 (9.00 am – 5.00 pm daily).
The conference will be Nigeria’s largest gathering of Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency (RE&EE) policy makers, researchers, manufacturers, investors, and consumers. Over 1,000 participants are expected to attend through physical or virtual participation. RE & EE stakeholders, sponsors and exhibitors will get the opportunity to explore linkages and collaboration with the Nigerian government and its relevant agencies towards promoting clean and affordable energy to end energy poverty in the country.
Speakers and participants will discuss emerging issues of energy transition and how to optimize the resulting opportunities, include amongst others policy implementation for renewable energy and energy efficiency sources in Nigeria; climate change act and renewable energy and energy efficient investment opportunities; youth and energy transition – unlocking opportunities; financing Nigeria’s energy transition beyond 2030; role of gender in achieving energy transition. The 2022 REEEA-A national conference will feature plenary sessions,
breakouts, exhibitions, keynote speeches, paper presentations and networking opportunities.
The Honourable Minister of Power Engr. Abubakar Aliyu will open the conference and deliver the keynote speech. Other very important dignitaries confirmed to participate in the conference, including Mrs Sharon Ikeazor (Hon. Minister of State for Environment); Honourable Gabriel Suswam (Chairman, Senate Committee on Power); Mr. Martin Huth (Deputy Ambassador of Germany); and Mr Benjamin Duke (Head of Program, GIZ NESP).
The REEEA-Alliance was established in 2020 as the umbrella body of private sector organizations of the RE&EE Sector with the mission to spearhead research, capacity building, and interest representation. The Alliance strives to contribute towards the growth of the RE&EE sector by 30% in 2030.
The following Associations are current members of REEEA-Alliance: Association of Energy Engineers of Nigeria (AEE), Council for Renewable Energy in Nigeria (CREN), Renewable Energy Association of Nigeria (REAN), Renewable and Alternative Energy Society of Nigeria (RAESON), Sustainable Energy Practitioners Association of Nigeria (SEPAN), Solar Energy Society of Nigeria (SESN), and Women in Renewable Energy Association (WIRE-A).
The REEEA Alliance has a Board of Trustees (BOT) with Professor Abubakar Sani Sambo as Chairperson; and a Steering Committee chaired by Dr. Imamuddeen Talba.
REEEA-Alliance was founded with the support of Nigerian Energy Support Programme (NESP II), a technical assistance programme co-funded by the European Union and the German Government and implemented by Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH in collaboration with the Federal Ministry of Power, Nigeria. REEEA-Alliance is the German Solar Industry Association, BSW-Solar. This is fostered through a program run by the German Federal Ministry of Economic Development and Cooperation (BMZ) via sequa GmbH.
