Why advancing Women in Energy is so important

As we strive towards a more sustainable and inclusive world for all, the role of women in the projected energy “revolution” cannot be overemphasized. Clean energy is the future, however, the current imbalance in the representation of women in both leadership and technical
jobs threatens to relegate us to spectatorship roles. According to IRENA, this gap is due to unequal access to education, lack of technical &
skill training opportunities as well as biased company policies. The Energy Transition is not going to be championed by any one gender, we
all have to contribute our quota to achieve our collective aim of a net-zero emissions future. The time to act is now in ensuring that women
are represented in decision-making positions, propelling political reforms and advancing gender-sensitive policies in the right direction.
