Cara Clairman is President and CEO of Plug’n Drive, a non-profit that is accelerating the deployment of electric vehicles (EVs) to maximize their environmental and economic benefits. Cara has taken Plug’n Drive from an idea to a thriving non-profit, recognized as a leader in the EV space. In 2018 Plug’n Drive’s Electric Vehicle Discovery Centre was selected as Canada’s 2019 Top Project by the Clean 50 Community. Cara has more than 20 years of experience working in the environmental and sustainability fields, including 12 years working at Ontario Power Generation, initially as OPG’s environmental lawyer and later in the role of Vice President of Sustainable Development.

Her research works are focused on power generation from renewable resources (wind, solar, and ocean current) and energy storage systems. Other than engineering and research, she loves to spend time with family.

Francis Bradley is the President and Chief Executive Officer of Electricity Canada. Founded in 1891, Electricity Canada (formerly the Canadian Electricity Association) is the national voice for sustainable electricity for its members and the customers they serve as the country works towards a Net Zero by 2050 future.
Electricity Canada members include integrated electric utilities, independent power producers, transmission and distribution companies, power marketers, manufacturers and suppliers of materials, technology, and services. The Association supports, through its advocacy efforts, the regional, national, and international success of its members.
Francis is the co-chair of the National Cross-Sector Forum, overseeing Canada’s Action Plan for Critical Infrastructure. He also sits on the Steering Committee for the Electricity Sub-Sector Coordinating Council (ESCC), the Board for the Energy Council of Canada (ECC), the Positive Energy Advisory Council, and is a founding Board member of the Canadian Transportation Alliance. At the North American Electric Reliability Corporation’s (NERC) Member Representatives Committee and Board of Trustees’ meetings, Francis represents Electricity Canada and advocates strongly for its members in their activities related to the Electric Reliability Organization Enterprise, and its role in ensuring the reliability and security of the North American bulk power system.
Prior to being named CEO in June 2019, Francis managed Electricity Canada’s day-to-day activities as Chief Operating Officer since 2014. In her capacity as the Director of Competitions and Business Development at Skills Ontario, a not-for-profit leader in Ontario promoting skilled trades and technologies to youth, Jennifer assumes the key leadership role in orchestrating Canada’s largest skilled trades event, the Skills Ontario Competition. She effectively manages with her team a comprehensive operation, supervising a diverse array of components, including 2,680+ competitors engaged in 75+ contests, coordinating the efforts of 850+ volunteers, and 47,000 visitors spanning across 500,000 sq.ft. Providing a platform for hands-on experiences and immersive engagements, the event plays a pivotal role in shaping the career aspirations of the next generation.
In 2020/21, Jennifer was appointed chair of a team of Apprenticeship Youth Advisors working with Ontario’s Minister of Labour, Immigration, Training, and Skills Development on a provincial strategy to attract more youth to skilled trade careers. The final report, Supporting an Accessible and Inclusive Skilled Trades and Apprenticeship System in Ontario, resulted in a $90M investment in direct response to the report by the Ontario government. It includes the introduction of a professional development day on skilled trades for guidance educators, and the new compulsory grade 9 or 10 Technology and the Skilled Trades courses starting 2024-25 school year.

She consulted foreign major renewable energy companies and international financial institutions. Shirin Hosseini is a power electronic student dedicated to designing and controlling DC, AC, and hybrid AC-DC microgrids. She possesses extensive experience in integrating renewable generations and developing power quality compensators. Her knowledge of Heuristic optimization algorithms, Automatic Generation Control (AGC), and Load Frequency Control (LFC) in power systems is remarkable.
Skilled in simulation tools like MATLAB and PSIM, Shirin also has experience in Android programming. Her research interests include modular multilevel converter operation and control, power converters design and control, and smart power converters control for microgrid power flow and power quality management.
Shirin has held various positions at esteemed organizations, contributing her expertise as a Research Assistant, Teaching Assistant, and Electrical Engineer. Since 2020, she took part as a senior expert in the EU / TAS supported SRSS – Technical Assistance for the Implementation of the Energy Efficiency Program in Schools in the TRNC – Implementation of the Community Acquis on Energy Efficiency in the Energy Sector in General, Starting from the Schools – Project and expert architect in the KABEV / Energy Efficiency in Public Buildings in Turkey project carried out by the World Bank supported Ministry of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change. She is currently developing the IsDB-Innovate supported SMART-GEN (Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy Resources Distance Education Modules) Project. She has joint articles on completed projects and user guides for the dissemination of various projects and has co-translated several technical books into Turkish. Pooja Shah (she/her) is a Senior Consultant in DNV’s Renewables and Power Grids Advisory. Passionate about advancing equity while addressing climate change, Pooja’s focus is on development, financing, and implementation of innovative and equitable solutions to accelerate the energy transition. Pooja currently leads technical due diligence work for tax credit transfers at DNV. She previously led project development and owner’s engineering work for energy storage. Pooja has supported development and financing of 10GWh of clean energy projects, including some of the largest solar and energy storage projects in North America. Pooja has a master’s degree in Energy Systems Engineering with a focus on renewable energy and sustainability from Syracuse University, NY. Pooja is the chair for DNV’s Women+ Employee Resource Group for North America. She is also a recipient of the Equality in Energy Transition Emerging Leader Award.
