DUNCAN MCINTYRE

Head of Energy Division, Australian Government Department of Industry, Science, Energy and Resources

Duncan McIntyre heads the Energy Division at the Australian Government Department of Industry, Science, Energy and Resources. He is responsible for the oversight and development of Australian Government energy, energy security and energy efficiency programs and policies, and the advancement of Australia’s energy interests through international engagement. Duncan has previously held senior leadership positions in the Australian Government departments of the Prime Minister and Cabinet, Finance, and Communications. He has tertiary qualifications in Science, Communications and Public Administrations and is a member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.

ANTHONY CAPKUN

Business Communicator, Networker, Bridge-builder, Editor-Publisher at Annex Business Media

Anthony Capkun is a business communicator, networker and bridge-builder with 20+ years of experience in traditional and new media platforms for business audiences, specifically those involved with electrical energy systems and applications, and proactive energy management. He is passionate about supporting STEM and skilled trades careers, and advocates for diversity, equity and inclusion. He currently serves as the editor-publisher of Electrical Business Magazine and Energy Manager Canada, both members of the Annex Business Media family.

 

 

DARRYL SPECTOR

President, Promation

Darryl is the President of Promation. Since joining Promation in 2004, Darryl has managed several strategic operational reorganizations within the company, which has seen more than 750% growth in revenue during this period. In addition, Darryl has been an agent of change and cultural definition, as attested to by Promation winning the Award of Excellence in the Large Business category in Oakville in 2016, the Halton Employer’s Choice Award in 2017, OCNI Service Excellence Award in 2019, and Top 100 SME Employer in Canada in 2020, 2021, and 2022, as well as the Oakville Chamber of Commerce “Business Icon of the Year” award for 2021. Darryl holds the seat of Chair of the Board for Skills Ontario, Board Member for the Canadian Manufacturers and Exporters (CME) association, and is also a member of their Advisory Board (Ontario). In addition, he sits on the Board of the Ontario Council for Technology Education (OCTE) which represents and advocates for all of the Elementary & Secondary Technology Educators in Ontario.

 

JEANINE VANY

Executive Leadership, Eavor Technologies

Jeanine Vany is an APEGA registered professional geologist with a career spanning 20 years in the oil and gas and geothermal industries. Her experience ranges from reservoir characterization, drilling and operations to full field delineation strategies, and acquisition. Ms. Vany has spent her career at foremost E&P companies such as EnCana, Devon and Total. Jeanine holds an Honours B.Sc degree in Geology and Environmental Studies from Saint Mary’s University and a Business Essentials Certificate from the Haskayne School of Business, University of Calgary.

 

ROBERTA GIROUX

Apprenticeship Retention Coordinator, Trade Winds to Success

Roberta Giroux is the Apprenticeship Retention Coordinator at Trade Winds to Success. Trade Winds to Success is an organization that strives to increase the number of Indigenous people working in the building trades. Roberta has a certificate in finance from NAIT and is a Journeywoman Electrician. Roberta uses her experience to work with youth and indigenous people to promote education and the skilled trades industry. Roberta was recently featured on the WiRE Spotlight Blog.

STEPHANIE GRUCHY

Strategic Opportunity Capture Manager, Pennecon Technical Services

Having spent the past 10 years in progressive development roles within Pennecon Technical Services, in late 2020 Stephanie stepped into the newly created role of Strategic Opportunity Capture Manager.  With a focus on strategic business development and acquisition, Stephanie brings a solid background in operations and client management, which enable her to effectively work across the Services and Maintenance organization in order to identify and target key customers and opportunities of interest.

Stephanie is a collaborator who works with peers to move the industry forward, translating challenges into new approaches and perspectives and has a passion for diversity and inclusion. She holds a Professional Engineering Technologist designation (P.Tech.), Business certification and is currently enrolled in Edinburgh’s Masters in Business Administration (MBA) program with graduation soon approaching. Stephanie recently obtained a  Director position with EnergyNL, she serves as a volunteer with Rotary St. John’s East as both a Treasurer and Chair of the community group, volunteers with Women in Resource and Development (WRDC) and holds a position as an Ambassador with the St. John’s Board of Trade and also a committee member for their Member Value group.

DANA DARWISH

Climate Change and Sustainability Consultant

Dana is a Climate Change and Sustainability Consultant at EY Consulting in Dubai. She is involved in various sustainability/ESG advisory services, including sustainability/ESG reporting and assurance, ESG/sustainability strategy development, energy management and ESG IPO Readiness Assessment. Dana has previously worked as a Research Assistant at the Environmental Law Faculty in University of Freiburg where she scrutinized and analyzed regional climate- and energy-related policies in EU, Americas and Asia. She has also interned at the UNEP ROWA mainly for the Resource Efficiency Sub-Programme. Furthermore, she has interned remotely at CEBC MENA in the Women in Clean Energy (WICE) working group and hosted CEBC MENA Podcast Channel. She is a Masters graduate in Renewable Energy Engineering and Management with Outstanding Distinction from University of Freiburg in Germany. Her interdisciplinary master thesis led to her being selected as one of the speakers at the first EPICamp Conference, organized by EPICUR.  She has previously graduated with Highest Honors in Bachelors of Sustainable and Renewable Energy Engineering from University of Sharjah. Her Bachelors project received a Research Patent from UAE Ministry of Economy and allowed her to be nominated as a Young Biomass Researcher at Austria’s World Sustainable Energy Days 2020.
